Dr Margaret (Maggie) Spath obtained her veterinary degree from the Royal Veterinary College in London, England in 2006.  A native of California, Dr Spath settled in Washington after meeting her husband Chris and her stepson Trace shortly after arriving in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.  Dr Spath decided quickly that the South Puget Sound was where she wanted to practice veterinary medicine and continue to build the Spath legacy.  She and Chris (now her business partner) welcomed two more children, their daughters Maeve and Morgan, and a slew of furry creatures over the years who have formed the tapestry of their family.  

Dr Spath’s professional journey has never strayed far from the Olympia/Tumwater area.  She started as a new graduate at Steamboat Animal Hospital, followed by a short time practicing for a low-cost clinic in Tacoma where she was able to use her skills to help those who would not otherwise be able to afford quality veterinary care.  The majority of her professional tenure, and some of her happiest years in veterinary medicine were spent at Tumwater Veterinary Hospital with Dr Gregg Bennett and Dr Lina Wachsmuth.  More recently, thanks to the global pandemic, Dr Spath took a position as an Emergency Clinician at Blue Pearl Specialty and Referral Hospital in nearby Lakewood, an adventure that tested her medical knowledge immeasurably, pushing her to limits she didn’t know she had.  She came out of the experience much more confident in Emergency Medicine and learned countless skills from the many specialists she was so fortunate to call her colleagues.  All of this has culminated in the clear vision that high quality General Practice Medicine is ultimately what drives Dr Spath, and what she is truly passionate to create.  Pinehurst Veterinary Hospital is the realization of that vision, and the culmination of many years of experience, passion, dedication, and most importantly, high quality personalized medicine that Dr Spath has become known to share with her many clients.  

In her spare time, Dr Spath can be found anywhere up and down the I-5 corridor at one of her daughters’ sporting events, or travelling to the nearest music gig that her son’s band is performing.  She loves island hopping with Chris in the Sound, reading books, hiking, biking, and generally being outside.
