Euthanasia

Saying goodbye to a companion isn’t easy.

We Are With You in These Difficult Times

Saying goodbye to a faithful companion is never easy.

Unfortunately, dogs’ and cats’ lives are significantly shorter than our own, and those tearful goodbyes are inevitable. And to make matters even more difficult, pet parents are often faced with the agonizing decision of when to end their companions’ suffering. If you believe your pet’s quality of life is no longer acceptable, or if you simply are concerned it isn’t as good as it could be, we can help. At Pinehurst Veterinary Hospital, we can make recommendations to improve your pet’s life where appropriate. And when there simply is no more to be done, we can guide you through the process of euthanasia. You are welcome and encouraged to be with your pet during the process, as we understand they are your family. We also offer cremation services, if desired.

Choosing Euthanasia

When a dog or cat can no longer enjoy a decent quality of life due to a serious injury, terminal illness, or old age, having them put to sleep is a final act of kindness. The process takes just a few minutes and is entirely humane for your beloved pet. We also take steps to ensure that your pet’s final moments are peaceful and free of anxiety.

If you choose to have your beloved pet put to sleep, we will explain the entire process and answer any questions you may have. Though choosing euthanasia is never easy, we want to make sure you are comfortable with your decision and will be by your side every step of the way.
