Scott is ecstatic to join the incredibly talented doctors and support staff at Pinehurst. Although he is new to the clinic, he has been practicing veterinary medicine for the past 10 years at Steamboat Animal Hospital.
Scott grew up in Medford, Oregon, and was always surrounded by a plethora of house pets, from dogs and cats, to rabbits and box turtles. He and his younger brother would spend countless hours in nature, frequently visiting southern Oregon’s gorgeous lakes, rivers, and coastline. His passion for science and animals made it clear that he wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. As a teen he volunteered at local pet hospitals, Wildlife Images Rehabilitation Center, and worked as a lifeguard. These experiences strengthened his realization that not only did he want to help animals, but work with people too.
While completing his Animal Science degree at Oregon State University, Scott discovered a love for teaching while assisting in the Animal Sciences program. Scott attended veterinary school at the University of Minnesota, focusing on Small Animal Medicine (although he misses the dairy cattle from his Animal Sciences courses). Somewhat serendipitously, between classes and endless studying, Scott struck up a correspondence with an old friend from back home. That correspondence grew into a relationship, and now Scott and his wife, Rachel, are celebrating 7 years of marriage, having first met in kindergarten. They share a young son, two cats (Monte and Murph), and a three-legged Golden Retriever (Reuben).
Upon graduating from U of M in 2013, Scott and Rachel were anxious to get back to the Pacific Northwest. They landed in Olympia, and have lovingly called it home ever since. In his spare time, you will find Scott playing countless board games, hiking, homebrewing, and traveling with his family.
